Fan Fiction, Modding & Art - Part I

Like with any other media, good products quickly have a large fan base. And the internet has made it incredibly easy to get, and stay, in contact with the people that love the same stuff you do. Forums are full of discussions, art, alternative story[endings], models, meeting and moto-partys... you name it!

Games, as you probably already are not the exception. The communities are just as strong, large and dedicated. The sheer amount of material (often highly professional) that these dedicated fans create, usually for free, is amazing and keeps the communities alive and happy.

Games also have another benefit. Games are (often easily) modable. Artist can replace game models and textures with their own, and programmers can tweak or completely change the code and the feel of the game. (But ill talk about this in more detail in another post).
Here is some examples of fan art, that I found rather interesting (hope you do to).

Oh yea... They dont always have to be super-realistic ;)

and a shortfilm that Ithought was Amazing!

  3. I love this especially when it gets a bit naughty and some characters like Lara Croft lose their clothing.

  4. The Mario art is amazing. The turtle in the corner is terrifying.
